Works
The challenge. The thinking. The work. The impact.
Our portfolio is more than a collection of finished products.
Every engagement begins with something a client is trying to understand, change, build, communicate, or make possible. Our case studies show not only what Kindred created, but why we approached the work as we did and what happened as a result.
The Colorado Health Foundation: Colorado Health Symposium
Creating a Place Where Colorado Can See Itself
Four years of helping bring narrative, culture, community voice, creativity, and connection to Colorado's premier health convening.
Services
Strategic Counsel • Narrative + Messaging • Creative • Cultural + Community Engagement • Convenings + Placemaking
For four consecutive years, Kindred has served as a planning and communications partner for the Colorado Health Symposium. Our role has grown from a defined communications assignment into a broader partnership focused on how storytelling, culture, community voice, and thoughtful communications can help create a gathering where people across Colorado feel welcomed, represented, and connected.
For the 2026 Symposium, Wisdom & Wonder: Weaving Generations Together for a Healthier Future, Kindred helped shape narrative and content; supported Poster Session and Flash Talk presenters; identified and recommended cultural partners and performers; developed participant communications; and concepted the tribute to outgoing CEO Karen McNeil-Miller, brought to life through a video developed by Creative Director Daryn Fouther.
Participant feedback affirmed many of the intentions behind the work: a welcoming environment, meaningful connection, visible community voice, and cultural expression woven into the experience. Four years into the partnership, Kindred continues to explore how the learning generated at Symposium can reach beyond the gathering itself, including recommendations for digital libraries of Poster Sessions and Flash Talks.
The Colorado Health Foundation: Impact Investing
Making the Investment Story Human
Turning a complex financial strategy into stories about people, places, and possibility.
Services
Strategic Counsel • Narrative + Messaging • Storytelling • Reports + Publications • Digital Strategy • Creative
After years of impact investing, the Colorado Health Foundation had accumulated a significant body of investments, partnerships, and learning. Kindred was engaged to make this complex work more accessible while bringing forward the people and communities behind the financial mechanisms.
Kindred helped transform seven years of experience into the Impact Investing Look Back, a comprehensive report connecting investment strategy and learning with stories of what those investments made possible.
From that foundation, we developed investee case studies, presentation materials, a one-pager, social and web content, marketing materials, and additional storytelling. We also developed investee-centered case studies that partners could use to tell their own stories and identified the need for shared Impact Investing messaging across the Foundation.
What began as one major report became the foundation of a broader communications ecosystem. CHF now has stories, messages, visuals, and communications tools that help move Impact Investing from financial abstraction toward a clearer understanding of what investment makes possible in Colorado communities.
Equity Policy Solutions
Building a Brand for the Next Chapter
Helping an equity-focused consultancy clarify who it is, what it offers, and how it shows up.
Services
Brand Strategy • Positioning • Narrative + Messaging • Website • Creative • Strategic Counsel
Equity Policy Solutions had deep expertise spanning health, equity, policy, planning, community development, and the built environment. But its communications no longer fully reflected the organization it had become or made it easy for prospective partners to understand the connections across its work.
Kindred helped EPS sharpen its positioning, organize its services into clearer areas of expertise, and develop messaging around its value, approach, and experience. We then translated that strategy into a reimagined website, with new architecture and content designed to guide audiences from understanding EPS and its point of view to exploring its experience and engaging the firm. Brand, creative, and practical communications tools helped carry the new positioning beyond the website.
EPS emerged with a clearer platform for its next stage of growth: stronger positioning, more coherent service language, an updated digital presence, and communications tools designed to support credibility and business development.
Justice For Black Coloradans
Building the Narrative Infrastructure for a Movement
Connecting history, research, policy, and community voice in communications people can understand and act on.
Services
Narrative Strategy • Messaging • Policy Communications • Community Engagement • Creative • Media • Communications Infrastructure
As Justice for Black Coloradans grew, the Colorado Black Equity Study created an opportunity to deepen understanding of the historic and contemporary conditions shaping Black life in Colorado. JBC also needed communications capable of supporting community participation, fundraising, policy engagement, public visibility, and its growth as an independent organization.
Kindred developed a comprehensive messaging framework and audience-specific messages, along with FAQs, explainers, leadership materials, community storytelling tools, funder communications, and case-for-support language. We also helped strengthen the infrastructure underneath the communications: website architecture and content, editorial planning, workflows, asset organization, media strategy, and clearer communications roles. Throughout the work, community voice remained central to how the larger narrative was shaped.
JBC gained more than individual communications products. It gained narrative infrastructure that can support public education, community participation, policy engagement, fundraising, and organizational growth. For organizations working toward systemic change, communications shouldn't sit beside the strategy. It should help the strategy move.
CIRCLE Organization
Building Communications Capacity From the Inside Out
Helping a growing nonprofit expand its reach while building the tools and skills to communicate more sustainably.
Services
Strategic Counsel • Brand + Creative • Fundraising Communications • Reports + Publications • Digital Content • Facilitation + Training • Communications Infrastructure
CIRCLE wanted to strengthen its brand, expand its reach, and better communicate its impact without the resources for a dedicated communications team. Kindred saw an opportunity to do both: create strong communications and build the internal capacity to make that work more sustainable.
Kindred designed two annual Impact Reports and two CIRCLE Café booklets, developed sponsorship materials and levels, and created Colorado Gives Day strategies and content, including reels and testimonial cards.
We also worked on the infrastructure behind the communications. Angelle led a board retreat focused on fundraising and a staff communications retreat designed to help the team manage more communications independently. We developed reusable templates, tools, and approaches that made consistent, branded communications easier to produce.
CIRCLE gained stronger storytelling and fundraising materials, more sophisticated digital content, and practical communications tools its team could continue using. The fundraising preparation and strategy helped CIRCLE gain important operational and programmatic funding. The partnership reflects an important Kindred approach for smaller organizations: bring senior strategy and creative expertise where they add the most value while building the capacity to do more for themselves over time.
Elevation Community Land Trust
Opening the Door to Homeownership
Making affordable homeownership easier to understand while strengthening the communications behind it.
Services
Brand Strategy + Refresh • Narrative + Messaging • Creative • Video • Media Relations • Outreach + Marketing • Interim Communications Counsel
Elevation Community Land Trust helps make homeownership possible for Coloradans who might otherwise be priced out. ECLT wanted to make the community land trust model easier for prospective homeowners to understand while refreshing its brand and strengthening communications across audiences. Kindred also stepped into an interim communications role during a staffing transition.
Kindred refined ECLT's brand and messaging, translated homeownership opportunities into more accessible language, updated collateral, developed videos, and created the Doors to Opportunity outreach strategy.
We helped connect the brand across the website, social content, presentations, outreach materials, signage, and other communications. We also generated earned-media opportunities, including 9NEWS coverage of The Burrell, connecting affordable homeownership in Five Points with Black cultural legacy and pioneering musician Charles Burrell.
ECLT gained clearer homeownership communications, stronger outreach and media visibility, new creative assets, and a more cohesive brand experience. During its staffing transition, Kindred also helped build systems and tools that could be carried forward by its permanent communications team.
